Introducing Tesa

Smarter power use,
automatically.

Tesa helps households use power at more economical times, meeting their everyday needs while helping them save money.

Tesa learns how your household uses power and automatically optimises the timing of suitable household power use around your needs and preferences.

TesAcha is developing two complementary energy innovations: Tesa and Thermal Energy Storage.

Our Focus

TesAcha’s two areas of focus

TesAcha is developing practical energy technologies across two complementary areas: household power optimisation through Tesa, and Thermal Energy Storage as an active core development stream.

Tesa — smarter household power use

Tesa for your home

Smarter household power use

Tesa helps households use power at more economical times by learning household patterns, looking ahead and automatically optimising suitable household power use around everyday needs and preferences.

Thermal Energy Storage — storing energy as heat

Thermal Energy Storage

Developing new ways to store energy as heat

TesAcha continues to actively develop Thermal Energy Storage as a core innovation programme, focused on materials and technology that can provide a local store of heat energy for later use.

About TesAcha

Smarter ways to manage and store energy

TesAcha is an Auckland energy-technology company developing practical technology that helps energy be used and stored at better times.

Our work has two complementary areas of focus.

Tesa, our current commercialisation focus, is a household power-management system designed to help households use power at more economical times. It automatically optimises flexible household power use based on each household's needs and patterns, while providing clear information that supports informed choices—without compromising comfort or convenience.

Alongside Tesa, thermal energy storage remains TesAcha's second development stream. This work is focused on materials and technology designed to provide a local store of heat energy that can be used later, including when electricity supply is limited or the grid is under pressure.

TesAcha brings together the capabilities needed to move complex technology towards real-world use. Our multidisciplinary team combines extensive experience in business leadership, technology delivery and commercial execution with PhD-qualified expertise across artificial intelligence, software architecture, electrical and control systems, materials science, advanced composites and thermal energy research.

That technical depth is matched by the commercial and operational capability needed to turn technology into practical solutions that solve real problems and can succeed in the market. Robustness and reliability are treated as core design requirements—not afterthoughts. Together, we consider not only whether technology works, but whether it solves a meaningful problem, earns trust, fits easily into everyday life and can support a commercially viable business.

Our progress has been strengthened by support and connections across New Zealand's innovation and research ecosystem, including Callaghan Innovation, the MacDiarmid Institute, Creative HQ and the Newmarket Innovation Precinct.

TesAcha is now progressing its technology towards real-world validation, pilots and commercial deployment—combining technical rigour with a clear focus on customers, partners and practical market adoption.

How It Works

Simple. Smart. Sustainable.

Our four-step process turns surplus energy into on-demand heat — no complexity, no waste.

01

Capture

Our system captures surplus energy from solar panels, the grid during off-peak hours, or other renewable sources.

02

Store

Energy is converted and stored as thermal energy in our high-density storage medium, ready for use whenever you need it.

03

Release

When you need hot water or heating, stored thermal energy is released on demand — efficiently and without waste.

04

Save

By shifting energy use from peak to off-peak times, you save on power bills while reducing your environmental impact.
